Beginners' Guide To Playing Badminton

Badminton is a racket sport played using rackets to hit a ball with a shuttlecock over a net. While it can be played by larger teams, most commonly the most popular forms of badminton are "doubles" and "sets." "Doubles" are usually played between two teams at once, while "sets" are played with a single team playing on offense and the other on defense. This game was originally invented in the UK but has now become very popular around the world.

Badminton as a sport can be traced back to the first badminton competition in 1900 in Rotorua, New Zealand. The games were extremely competitive and eventually grew into a team sport that moved into the Olympics. In the 1996 Beijing Olympics badminton made its first appearance. The games have been growing ever since, with countries such as Australia, France, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, and the United States hosting badminton tournaments.

With badminton's growth as an Olympic sport, several modifications to the game have been made. The scoring system was first created to add point based competitions to the event. The point system gives an advantage to the competitor who can shoot the lowest number of shots or set the fewest number of strokes. The badminton scoring system has also been altered to make it easier for players to move from one shot to the next. Most players can easily follow the guidelines, which makes the sport much easier to play.

As an Olympic sport, badminton has gained recognition from the International Olympic committee and the World Olympic Games. The first badminton Olympics was held in Sydney, Australia in the year 2000. The United States did not participate in the event but garnered bronze medals for the men and women both.

For those looking to play badminton, the first thing to do is to select a playing partner and find a good training program. Badminton players should ideally start playing with a partner who has experience in the game, especially for beginners. Beginners need to practice using only the shuttle cocks they use in a regular game setting. Badminton chalkboards can be bought for this purpose at most sports equipment stores. A chalkboard can be placed in a dedicated area where players can write notes and tips on how to play effectively.

For international badminton players, it is possible to join an ibf badminton club. An ibf badminton club provides players with a variety of training facilities. Joining an ibf badminton club gives players the chance to learn how to stroke properly and how to position themselves for an ideal shot. A lot of time should be spent practicing shots from the net, whether it is from the ground or from the top of the stands. For this sport, it is important to wear protective gear such as rubber shoes. These shoes are designed for safety; however, some competitors still opt for bare feet.

Once you have finished your lessons and gotten some valuable practice time, it is time to get yourself some professional badminton shoes. Different shoes are available for different skill levels; therefore, if you are beginner, you can start off with a flat or low maintenance court shoe. If you are an advanced player, then you may choose between spike-less shoes or court shoes. Most badminton shoes come in three basic colors - black, white, and brown.

Other than the shoes, there are a few accessories that every player should buy for playing badminton. Badminton chalkboards can be used to practice strokes and serve positions; a racketeer, shuttlecocks, and a badminton racket can be used for training. There are even branded badminton kits available in sports stores to help players improve their game. A few brands even offer free accessories to their customers.
